Many in the outdoor industry excel in teaching wilderness-related hard-skills and management. Yet FEW are taught how to foster and teach the Therapeutic Skills that foster belonging, safety, and connection. The WMHFA Curriculum prepares outdoor industry professionals to create group spaces that prioritize these foundational objectives. The WMHFA Curriculum prepares guides of all disciplines to effectively mitigate subjective hazards across client and student demographics, wilderness settings, and cultures.
The LifeWays WMHFA Curriculum makes mental health an integral dimension of the wider outdoor profession. The WMHFA Curriculum enhances a guide team’s ability to navigate challenging client behaviors, nuanced group dynamics, while increasing guide resilience and preventing burnout and exhaustion in the field.
