Research

In our work with consenting students and families, LifeWays administers student self-reported surveys upon intake, 6 months into the program (ideally after their first wildernesss course), 1 year into the program, and at 2 years from intake (in or out of the program).
This longitudinal study allows us to track internal successes and failures, while also collecting data for mentorship relationships at large. There is currently no other program administering research for an outdoor therapeutic mentorship program for teens and young adults. We are doing this starting on day one!

We can support survey development, data collection and processing, implementation, and distribution strategies. Please contact us for more specifics about your project.

Open Sky to LifeWays: Seeds for Wilderness Healing

Help us commemorate the closing of Open Sky and honor the healing power of wilderness by supporting LifeWays, a Durango-based program that provides mentorship and wilderness experiences for local teens and young adults. LifeWays guides and program staff were once OS guides and managers. They are now carrying on the guiding lineage in a new way!
