8/6 – 8/13
Our intro to backpacking and mindfulness courses offer male-identifying students and cohorts the opportunity to practice the skills learned in session and council. Students have the chance to see how a developing connection with the earth is our stabilizing pathway for growth and healing.
We will hike most days, practice yoga and meditation every morning, and share councils each evening.
You’ll learn the basic skills of wilderness survival from experienced guides, while learning to practice, and feel that our breath and body are of the earth, connected, and grounding teachers forever with us!

Help us commemorate the closing of Open Sky and honor the healing power of wilderness by supporting LifeWays, a Durango-based program that provides mentorship and wilderness experiences for local teens and young adults. LifeWays guides and program staff were once OS guides and managers. They are now carrying on the guiding lineage in a new way!
